Farewell to a Hero

Farewell to a Hero

By Chev. Steve Nimmons KCStG, Dated: 4th November 2008

I had the honour, and I must admit a very sad honour of attending the funeral this morning of Major-General vitez Janos Karaszy-Kulin.

Janos was a remarkable man, a hero of the Hungarian uprising, a philanthropist of world stature, Grand Master of the International Knightly Order Valiant of St. George and of course loving husband and father.

The funeral service was held at Rochester Cathedral, a poignant occasion naturally marked with the sadness of Janos' passing, but also with thanksgiving for his life and service to many worthy and notable causes. Janos will be sadly missed but his shining example will undoubtedly continue to flourish and grow in the lives of those fortunate enough to have known him.

Grand Priories from as far away as Serbia were represented at the funeral, a tribute befitting a man of such reputation and kindness of spirit.

Farewell to a Hero.
